Hansen Dentistry has been serving the Tacoma community since 1987, when Dr. David Hansen purchased the practice from Dr. John Gould after graduating from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. In 2007, his son, Dr. Stephen Hansen, joined the practice, working alongside his father for over a decade before carrying on the legacy of care he helped build.
Over the years, we’ve been honored to be named one of the best dental offices in the South Sound multiple times by South Sound Magazine. More meaningful than any award, however, is the continuity within our practice—many of our team members have been with us for decades, and many of our patients have been with us just as long.

An initial exam is often just a snapshot, but we prefer a more complete, dynamic view. If you have previous dental records, X-rays, or periodontal charting, they can be incredibly helpful. Teeth tend to remember their injuries—they don’t simply get better with time—and those records allow us to track patterns, changes, and areas that may need attention.
During your visit, we’ll take updated X-rays, measurements, and photographs to establish a baseline. From there, we’ll review everything together, talk through any concerns you may have, and discuss your goals. Then we’ll build a plan that works for you—one that makes sense, feels comfortable, and fits your priorities.
This is a judgment-free experience. Our job is to help you see what you can’t see.
